Eleanor Friedberger has announced the release of her upcoming third album New View. The album follows her 2013 effort, critically acclaimed Personal Record.

Friedberger, also guitarist and vocalist for indie band The Fiery Furnaces, took inspiration from past songwriting icons Neil Young, Van Morrison and George Harrison for the release. After living the past fourteen years in Brooklyn, she moved to upstate New York to record the album with her band, Icewater. The new LP was cut live to tape, in producer Clemens Kneiper’s converted barn studio.

As a result, the album promises to be an organic and free-flowing affair, highlighting Friedberger’s voice. These qualities can be found in a non-album cut she released earlier this month, “False Alphabet City“.

Since The Fiery Furnaces have been on hiatus since 2011, Friedberger’s solo career has been at the forefront of her musical endeavors. Utilizing noteworthy influences, and a simple, yet effective recording process, her new album should be one to watch out for on best-of end of the year lists.

New View will be released Jan. 16, 2016 on Frenchkiss Records.
