Black Sabbath Allegedly Cancel Plans To Record Final Album

You can mark down the 2014 Black Sabbath LP 13 as the last studio album in the band’s discography. Ozzy Osbourne has confirmed the band, whose career has lasted forty-four years, will not release an album supporting the scheduled final tour starting in January 2016.

Osbourne has mentioned the creative struggles that arose during the recording of last year’s Rick Rubin-produced effort. Additionally, the band had financial differences with original drummer Bill Ward, who as a result did not appear on the last album or the subsequent tour. Health issues have also plagued guitarist Tony Iommi, who has battled cancer and recovery since 2012.

So the news, while disappointing, doesn’t come as a surprise. Besides, metal fans won’t have a problem keeping their copies of legendary albums such as Paranoid and Master of Reality handy for Sabbath studio listening.

“In December I’ll be fuckin’ 68 and I think it’s time to call it the end of the day,” Osbourne said.

Hard to argue with that.
