With both Tool and A Perfect Circle on an indefinite sabbatical, it appears accentric-crooner, Maynard James Keenan has plenty of time to sink his chops into: Puscifer; a musical-entity he acknowledges as his: “creative subconscious.” With only a little over a week left until its forthcoming-release, Keenan delivers a stirring-video, cleverly-named: “Money Shot” to serve as the final tease for the album of the same name.
“Money Shot,” which was co-directed by both Tim Cadiente and Puscifer relays various actors: Jacob Vargas, of Sons of Anarchy fame, Pacific Rim’s Clifton Collins Jr., and well-known in the realm of Mexican-wrestling: the Flying Caliente Brothers taking their run in a high-octane match for the ages. Drifting between the desaturated colors and scratchy flash-frames, the agents of chaos prevail.
Visionary-frontman and sole permanent-member, Maynard James Keenan advises on Puscifer’s new efforts:
“Tossing out a few more cryptic Luchador flavored bread crumbs with this one. Confused? Don’t tweak your noodle. As with all of Puscifer’s and Billy D’s journeys, linear has no place here. Just embrace the chaos and enjoy the ride.”
Due out October 30, Money Shot has Rolling Stone touting it:
“takes a more refined approach to all the things that make Puscifer, Puscifer. The raunchy sense of humor is still there (most notably in the lustily grinding title track), but the overall mood of melodically pulsing songs like ‘Grand Canyon,’ Galileo’ and ‘The Remedy’ is darker, more somber and more reflective.”
Keenan seeks to trek his most-affluent “dog-&-pony” act on the road for a six-week venture through the States, starting November 1st at Phoenix’s own: Monster Mash Festival.
