Swedish pop duo, Icona Pop, has teamed up with The Roots’ Questlove to cover “I Can’t Wait,” originally written & performed by 80’s R&B band, Nu Shooz. Icona Pop & Questlove’s version holds true to the original which was released in 1986 only to hit number 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart for two weeks straight. The cover can be heard in Target’s new “Plaid” ad campaign, and has probably already gotten stuck in your head once or twice before. It’s catchy rhythm mimics most of the songs that can be found in Icona Pop’s repertoire. The duo has had a huge year this year touring with the world’s biggest boy band, One Direction, and releasing multiple new singles, including “Ride” & “Emergency.” You can watch the recently released music video for “Ride,” here.

Questlove hasn’t been laying low this year, either, between his daily spot with The Roots on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and his surprise appearance at the SXSW festival back in March. He also did a previous collaboration with Charli XCX, who co-wrote Icona Pop’s number 1 single “I Love It.” Questlove & Charli XCX covered the 90’s classic “Groove Is In the Heart,”  for another Target campaign.

Unfortunately, even though Icona Pop seems to be putting out new music almost every month as of late, there is still no word on a second album. You can refer to their website for any additional updates on the duo.
