Today’s final nominees for the 2015 Mercury Prize were announced. The award is given to the best album in the Untied Kingdom and Ireland. The final nominations include Aphex Twin’s Syro, Florence and the Machine’s How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, Jamie xx’s In Colour, and Wolf Alice’s My Love Is Cool.
The first Mercury Prize was awarded in 1992 and awarded to Primal Scream for their album Screamadelica. The Prize is open to all genres of music; the genres vary year to year.
Touring her most recent album, Florence and The Machine has been performing at several festivals like Coachella, Bonnaroo and will perform at Lollapalooza Argentina and Brasil, and Glastonbury.
On August 21, 2015, Aphex Twin, AFX, flooded music channels with a new album, Orphaned Deejay Selek 2006-08 released through Warp Records.
Along with the creation of In Colour this summer, Jamie xx recently released a new music video for his the single “I Know There’s Gonne Be (Good Times)“.
Wolf Alice has released new singles in the past few months including, “Baby Ain’t Made of China“, “You’re A Germ” and a cover of One Direction’s “Steal Your Girl”.
The winner of the Mercury Prize will be announced on November 20, 2015.
