WATCH: Skindred Release New Video For “Volume”

Reggae-metaliers, Skindred just added a riveting new video to their sonic-arsenal of mass-destruction.  Here it is: “Volume” the title-track and video for their forthcoming LP scheduled for release October 30th, courtesy of Napalm Records.

Just like the name suggests, the shell-shocking cut-&-video speaks volumes unto itself, delivering a gut-wrenching blow like never-before-seen.  These self-proclaimed innovators of: “nu-reggae” as jokingly suggested by frontman and lead-vocalist, Clive “Benji” Webbe plow through their latest with a take-no-prisoners motif.

“Volume” hammers away with a self-assured sense of ferocity, cleverly-edited through a kaleidoscope of imagery attacking even the slightest of sensibilities.  Featuring a narrative concept of alien-invasion casting destruction among the city, it’s clear Skindred appeal to varied target-audiences given their eclectic influences, including but not limited to: heavy-metal, punk-rock, hip-hop, electronica, and you guessed it… reggae.

Hailing from South-Wales, these angst-y, bearded-heathens are frequently compared to hardcore-punk pioneers, Bad Brains in relation to their unique sound.  Veritable frontman, Benji Webb begs to differ:

To someone who doesn’t know anything about reggae music, of course we’re going to sound like Bad Brains.  It’s like someone who doesn’t know anything about opera might say that Pavarotti sounds just like Mario Lanza.  But when your ears are trained and you know what you’re looking for, you’re going to say, ‘Shit no, Mario Lanza don’t sound nothing like Pavarotti.’
