Indie country-rock outfit, Wilco recently unveiled plans to continue support for their latest release, Star Wars with a tour through the U.S. at the turn of the new year.
Hoisted on the premiere of their refreshingly-vibrant new record, Star Wars, Jeff Tweedy and the rest of the boys of Chicago-roots seek to shop new material, kicking it off in Pittsburgh on January 25. From there, Wilco will trek only the best-of-them, hitting a two-night show-stopper at Brooklyn’s famed: Kings Theatre, February 5th and 6th, before finishing out a rousing journey through America’s eastern-side.
Jeff Tweedy and company will then play a complimentary two-run gig in Atlanta’s heralded: The Tabernacle on February 10th and 11th, only to wrap this leg of the tour the only way they know how, bidding a rousing-finale in Roanoke, VA on February 13th.
Following 2011’s excellent The Whole Love, Wilco dropped their latest effort unexpectedly via free-download last July.
Frontman, Jeff Tweedy details the reasons for lack of conventional-promotion prior to Star Wars’ release:
“I was really dreading the modern roll-out pattern. Usually by the time the record comes out, I hate it… I think it’s done a disservice to our records, the way they’ve been heard in dribs and drabs, and a lot of people think they’ve heard a whole record after hearing one song. That’s not the way Wilco records work.”
