Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine will be performing at the Alex Bar in Long Beach on October 30. The punk rock band is led by Jello Biafra, who is the former lead singer and songwriter for San Francisco punk rock band Dead Kennedys. Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine is his first real band since the DKs and his new vision is as uncompromising as ever.
In the twenty years that followed the demise of the Dead Kennedys, Biafra has devoted himself to activism, spoken word tours, collaborations with musicians as diverse as Mojo Nixon, No Means No, DOA, Reverend Horton Heat, Melvins, formed Lard with Ministrys Al Jorgenson and many other musical projects. He is a huge supporter of underground music especially in the San Francisco Bay area.
The band has released two albums to date, the most recent being White People and the Damage Done in 2013. For anyone who is a punk rock aficionado, be sure to catch Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine at Alex Bar in Long Beach later this month!
