On Monday, Björk announced that she will be releasing a strings-only edition of her latest album Vulnicura .
Vulnicura Strings (Vulnicura: The Acoustic Version) includes Icelandic composer Sławomir Zubrzycki playing the world’s only viola organista, designed by Leonardo DaVinci in the 1400’s. ‘this was an album that could take another version,’ said Björk in a Facebook statement on the album. ‘a reveal , to simply have the acoustics stand on their own for the folks who wanna indulge even further into the wooden timeless side of this music w/ no techno .’ The singer-songwriter has also shared the strings-only version of “Lionsong” as a preview to the upcoming album.
Back in August, Björk announced the cancellation of tour dates caused by emotional strain, but also stating that she was working on new material.
