On the heels of last summer’s stellar documentary, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck arrives a fresh-take on a catchy old ditty called: “Sappy.” Slated as the first taste of companion album due out November 13, Montage of Heck: The Home Recordings will showcase a stack of uncut demo’s from the Grunge-Lord, himself.
Hailing under the official site for the new LP, a jigsaw puzzle featuring the album cover art ensues a mystery pursued. Once all the pieces are placed together, the embryonic rendition of the well-known song is unveiled as a demo: “Sappy (Early Demo).”
While originally released in 1993 under the title: “Verse Chorus Verse” from the compilation-record, No Alternative, this recently-released version reflects a far more poignant and personal Cobain in comparison to the lush-and-loud rendition as recorded by the ever-so-gifted producer, Steve Albini at Pachyderm Studios.
“Sappy (Early Demo)” is one of four original four-track recordings as recorded by Cobain himself while living in Olympia, Washington during the late-80’s. The demo was recently released by Courtney Love along with over 200-previously-unreleased cuts of modern rock genius.
The rugged-and-sparse demo is scheduled to be released December 4th on the flip-side of a special 7-inch single featuring Kurt Cobain’s very own personalized cover of: “And I Love Her,” as originally written and recorded by The Beatles.
Both the cover and “Sappy (Early Demo)” will be included in the standard and deluxe version of The Home Recordings album. While digital-downloads of both versions will be made available to the masses, the standard version will feature 13-specific-cuts on compact disc culled from Cobain’s very own personal collection of music. The deluxe-edition will showcase 31-tracks in a double-LP-vinyl format. Available the same day the documentary: Montage of Heck arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray.
