So what if some band members from Explosions In The Sky and Eluvium got together and made a song? “Hearing Loss” is from the group Inventions and it’s an awesome duo in the making. Mark T. Smith (Explosions In The Sky) and Matthew Cooper (Eluvium) are working on a self-titled debut album that expands in detail on their previously released album Maze of Woods. Blanket Waves comes out this October with “Hearing Loss” added into the mix.
The new single is a mix of new sounds and vibrations with the added use of synthesizers to get the message across. The intention of the single and the other eleven tracks on Invention’s new EP is to distort the listener, the title of the recently released single is ironic to the Inventions attempt at creating a systematic mix of audio and distortion of frequency waves. The listener is thrown around in a whirlpool of sound and in fact does create a form of hearing loss or an ambiance of noise like that of Mammal’s self titled album, Lonesome Drifter.
