LISTEN: Florence Welch, Noel Gallagher And Grateful Dead’s Phil Lesh and Bill Kreutzmann Perform “Boob Spelled Backwards Is Boob”

Florence of the Machine‘s Florence Welch and an entire cast of notables, including: Noel Gallagher(Oasis), Phil Lesh and Bill Kreutzmann(Grateful Dead), Hozier, Elle King, Grace Potter and slew of others lend their talents to the charitable new ode: “Boob Spelled Backwards is Boob,” in an effort to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Penned by auspicious eight-year-old, Archer Nelson, in direct response to the diagnosis of his mother with breast cancer, the tender little ditty, “Boob Spelled Backwards” pulls assuredly on the heart-strings.  The tearjerker acts as a love-letter of encouragement  to fight through and remain strong amidst the trials and tribulations life brings.

Coined as a creative-outlet in which to cope with such sad news, Archer’s father, Mike Nelson and fellow co-worker, Irish DJ Greg McQuaid(host of the morning radio-show on KFOG FM in California) cleverly enlisted the gifts of various recording-artists: Florence Welch, Steve Earle, Milky Chance, Hozier, ZZ Ward, Tony Hadley, and Elle King to provide soulful vocal-stylings to the single.  Seasoned musicians: Noel Gallagher, Vance Joy, Michael Franti, Bleachers, and Phil Lesh and Bill Kreutzmann of the legendary Grateful Dead lay the musical-instrumentation for the cut.

Cultivated over an unprecedented eight-month time-span, DJ Greg McQuaid and Mike Nelson invested true passion into wielding this labor-of-love into fruition.  Due out October 1st, all proceeds will benefit breast cancer research.

Concerning the recording-project, DJ Greg McQuaid had interesting things to say to the Herald:  “Getting Hozier was really huge.  When you have one of the biggest artists on the planet involved, convincing others to contribute becomes a lot easier.”

McQuaid continues:  “We recorded his part back in April.  He didn’t have time to come by the radio station so we recorded him at the Masonic where he was playing three sold-out shows.  It was cute because his tour manager and road crew were all walking around backstage singing the chorus as we were trying to record it.”
