Bleachers Re-Release Debut Album Featuring All-Female Vocals From Sia, Charli XCX And Carly Rae Jepsen

Bleachers’ Debut album has been re-released with a female twist to the vocals from the original.

Bleachers’ has re-released their debut album Strange Desire and completely reimagined it from the original. All of the original vocals that Jack Antonoff recorded were redone with variety of different female vocalists. These artists are Charli XCX, Sia, Carly Rae Jepsen and Tinashe. The rerelease will be titled Terrible Thrills, Vol. 2.

“I love female voices,” Antonoff said in a statement to Rollingstone. “I wish I had one. When I write songs, I typically hear things in a female voice and then match it an octave lower so I can hit the notes. That’s why so many Bleachers’ songs are sung so low. I could change the key, but I like things sounding like a male version of what in my head was a female-sung song.”

Antonoff is a busy man these days with a documentary series being released on google play as well as this new album. He is also hosting a one-day New Jersey-centric festival that is called Shadow of the City on September 19th.

According to Rollingstone, Vol. 2 sees some of the collaborators from Antonoff’s previous projects including Sara Bareilles, who sings on “Wild Heart”; Charlie XCX, who contributes full version of “Rollercoaster” that was released as a teaser in an In-Ride Session. Bleachers and Charlie XCX were previously tourmates that ended in August when a “hindrance of creativity” while on the tour by Charlie XCX. We even see contributions from Brooke Candy and Rachel Antonoff, who is the fashion designer and Jack’s sister. The two sing on the vocals to “Take Me Away.”

Ryan Fricke: Music is my therapy, which I could not function without. I am currently finishing my senior year a Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida with a Journalism major and a Creative Writing Minor. I first realized I wanted to become a Music Journalist the minute I learned that I could get paid to do the two things I love most, writing and listening to music. I have yet to decide which I am more infatuated with but for the time being I will happily house them to their stalemate. My plans after graduation are unclear but I hope to further gain experience in this profession.
