Speedy Ortiz joined forces with Jezebel to unveil a new music video for “Swell Content”. Following on the heels of the music video release for “Raising the Skate” and recent cover of The Cardigans’ “Hanging Around”, the euphoric video features the band, spirited and creative, at an art camp. The effortlessly enthusiastic hit is interwoven with an inspiring message about the freedom of transforming failures into victories, as elaborated on Jezebel’s The Muse, where the video debuted:
Perfection is an unimaginative aspiration and usually capitulates to someone else’s definition of it, so why not revel in your individualism?
The video, co-directed by Boast Choan and drummer Michael Falcone, highlights a track off the band’s third album. Foil Deer, unleashed in April, was praised by Rolling Stone as “off-kilter, hypercatchy pop-rock”. NPR went on to name the release “one of rock’s most compelling young voices…With Foil Deer, [Speedy Ortiz] takes another giant leap”.
The band also recently announced a hotline for fans who feel threatened or unsafe at shows to “make shows safer and more inclusive for a wider community”, as stated by lead vocalist Sadie Dupuis.
