The new music video for “From The Pinnacle To The Pit” by Ghost was released today. The video was directed by Zev Deans and can be watched below.
The video is stylized after the German expressionist films of the 1920’s. Ghost have connected their recent album, Meloria, to horror in different, serious ways. The single art for “Cirice” and “From The Pinnacle To The Pit” paid tribute to The Silence Of The Lambs and King Kong, respectively, while the “Cirici” video paid homage to stylistic aspects of Dario Argento films like Suspiria. This video continues with the trend, resurrecting the imagery of The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari and the silent sci-fi classic Metropolis.
In “From The Pinnacle To The Pit” a student is sent to the headmasters office to be shown how a man can harness the power of god. The student is then turned into an all-powerful man who despises what he has become. The end result is the creation of Ghost vocalist Papa Emeritus III.
Ghost’s 2015 North American tour will begin September 22 in Washington, D.C. and stretch until November 1.
