Funeral for a Friend has announced that they will be breaking up after a final tour.
After 15 years of playing music together, Funeral for a Friend has announced, via Facebook, their split after they complete their “Last Chance To Dance” tour. In this post they never touch on an exact reason for their split but a sense of this being a unanimous band decision is evident. However, in a statement frontman Mathew Davies-Kreye tells us more: “It’s the natural end. We’ve done everything we set out to do and way more than I could ever have hoped so I’m not upset that it’s run its course. We all felt that [2015 album] ‘Chapter And Verse’ was a pretty decent full stop on an incredible 14 and half years of making music together,” according to NME.com. They finish the post by thanking family, friends and fans and plugging their last ever tour as well as inviting all fans to join them for what will be “something pretty special.”
The post-hardcore band has been together since 2001, emerging from Bridgend in the United Kingdom. They have since been a staple in the scream/emo music scene and found a lot of success through their seven studio albums and near two decades together.
The Last Chance To Dance your will include shows in Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham and London and will take place in April of 2016. The band will play two shows in each city and stated in their post their plan for the show each night.
“Performing ‘Hours‘ one night and ‘Casually Dressed’ the following night alongside songs from our other records and EP’s.”
Tickets for all dates go on sale from September 18.
