CHVRCHES’ new album, Every Open Eye, is coming out on September 25. A strong track from the project was premiered yesterday on BBC 1. “Clearest Blue” begins with a steady rhythm with Mayberry’s vocals engaging your ears with a sparse melody that gives the music enough space to breathe. Steadily moving with a catchy melody the song crescendos into a strong chorus that would entice any festival crowd into a jumping frenzy. The synth work somehow reminds one of the 1982 Depeche Mode classic, “Just Can’t Get Enough”, if you are old enough and musically savvy enough to know that song. The song’s length is a little too short and it ends abruptly and leaves one yearning for a couple more minutes of it’s sweet melodies. All in all it is a good song to be heard on the radio which is probably what it was produced as, and it will undoubtedly be a new favorite in CHVRCHES’ stage performances.
