WATCH: Jenny Hval Releases New Video For “Take Care Of Yourself”

Jenny Hval released video for her single “Take Care Of Yourself,” from her album Apocalypse, girl that came out this year. The video provides a look into the musician’s performance style, which includes live video streams, signature wigs, and an assortment of props. The expression of vulnerability is plain for her audience to see and it is enough to understand where the artist was heading with the style of this video.

The video goes through an elaborate way to describe the personal flair of Jenny Hval when it was shot while she was performing live at Studio 48 in New York City. Her video is about the everyday crises of womanhood, shaving and fixing ourselves to perfection in order to achieve preservation when there are forces trying to pull us down. Hval taunts her audience with bananas, time-lapse projections of herself, and band members dressed in the same garb. She tries to grasp the repetitive nature of what woman often struggle with, whether intimacy or even just the notions to achieve some greatness to what they choose to become.

Jenny Hval and her bandmates are currently on tour in the States with performances at the upcoming Hopscotch Festival and Basilica Soundscape.
