Wolf Alice have covered One Direction’s song “Steal My Girl”. The track was on the boy bands 2014 album Four but the north London group has turned it into a soft grunge ballad for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.
The group performed at Leeds Festival last weekend when they encountered some technical problems while performing. They played an early evening set and towards the end of their set lead singer Ellie Rowsell’s guitar stopped working. The bands stage technician couldn’t seem to fix the issue. Playing it a second time and having no luck, Rowsell dropped the guitar not the floor and jumped on bassist Theo Ellis’ shoulders, tackling him to the floor in the process. They seem to still be laughing off the performance in the video above when Rowsell playfully introduces the band. “Steal My Girl” performed by Wolf Alice has an underlying Nirvana washed texture along with Rowsell’s vocals making the song as unique as the band.
Wolf Alice released their debut album, My Love Is Cool, in June. The band is set to tour the UK in September with performances scheduled in Bristol, Birmingham, Glasgow, Newcastle, Sheffield, Southampton and Manchester.
They are set to headline the following dates:
09/16: Bristol O2 Academy
09/17: Birmingham Institute
09/19: Glasgow O2 ABC
09/21: Newcastle University
09/22: Sheffield Plug
