Although Empress Of are set to release their new album, Me, next week, they have kept it relatively quiet in regards to promoting the album. The silence has been broken by the release of their new song “Standard”.
Since the official album announcement in July there has been one song release. Within this week they have released a video for a new track called “How Do You Do It“, which is a Katy Perry cover, along with another song which is “Standard”. The track flows along the same veins as the others. It has a soft electro-pop vibe to it that you can remember if heard on the radio. Most pop songs are known for their hooks, but a great pop song can be heard when you can actually listen to the lyrics and have it mean something. Lorely Rodriguez, aka Empress Of, has mastered the art of a great pop song with her clear vocals and detail to melodic structure. She’s said that her album, Me, is “intensely personal”, a shift from her earlier work. If you’re ready to indulge and explore more of Empress Of, the album is set to be released September 11.
