Synth-pop group Chromatics have released their new song “Shadow” via the Adult Swim Singles Club.
The Adult Swim Singles Club, a series of 19 singles to be released under the Adult Swim brand, has released “Shadow” as the fourteenth installment. “Shadow” is joined by other releases like “Bodyline,” “The Mystery of Lonnie the Døn,” and “Cast the First Stone.”
The new track will be featured on the band’s upcoming LP Dear Tommy, according to Brooklyn Vegan. The release date for the album has yet to be announced.
The song supports its title with eerie, ephereal sounds that will follow you for long after you listen. Vocalist Ruth Radelet enchantingly croons, “Shadow, take me down with you for the last time.”
Band member Johnny Jewel offered a statement about both the track and the album:
Everyone has a shadow. There is no real difference between ten years ago and ten seconds ago. Your future determines your past. The flame of nostalgia is a tempting black hole to jump into, but I recognize it as a fantasy. Romance is brave. So is simplicity. Love is a call to war. Why wouldn’t you want to respect music? Dear Tommy I the most rebellious record I’ve made.
