Oneohtrix Point Never, also known as OPN, has released the lead single from his forthcoming album Garden of Delete.
OPN is a project by musician, composer and producer Daniel Lopatin, started in 2007. Garden of Delete, or G.O.D., will be available on November 13, 2015, via Warp Records. The album will be available in CD and digital formats, as well as on double gatefold vinyl. OPN will also be playing a select number of shows in support of the new record, featuring a brand new show that is a result of a partnership with OPN collaborator Nate Boyce. He last played headlining shows as OPN worldwide in winter 2014.
The song is an electronic adventure, with over three minutes of instrumental chaos on a synthesizer. Despite the lack of lyrics and seemingly a lack of direction, the notes are somehow narrative in their ebb and flow, like a fight in West Side Story or something. OPN has created an interesting and truly unique sound in “I Bite Through It,” which you can listen to below.
Lopatin is also the founder of Software Recording Company in Brooklyn and has worked with several notable artists in different industries, such as Sofia Coppola and Nine Inch Nails. In fact, he was one of the acts chosen to open during the Nine Inch Nails/Soundgarden tour in summer 2014. He has also collaborated with MoMA and the Tate Modern.
