Industrial metal band Godflesh will be performing at the El Rey Theatre with special guests Prurient on October 2. Godflesh are an industrial metal band from Birmingham, England, formed in 1988 by Justin Karl Broadrick (guitar, vocals, and programming) and G. C. Green (bass).
After a breakup in 2002, Broadrick and Green reformed Godflesh in 2010. The band’s latest album A World Lit Only By Fire was released in October of last year and peaked at #22 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers chart. It was the first studio album of new material Godflesh released in 13 years.
Godflesh are highly regarded as one of the founders of industrial metal. They have been cited as an influence by Korn, Metallica, Danzig, Faith No More, Fear Factory, Converge, Isis, Pitchshifter, and Ministry, among others.
