This year marks the 8th edition of Fishtown’s annual RiverCity Festival. This year the event will take over Penn Treaty Park with an exciting local lineup. The event takes place on Saturday, October 10th and runs from noon until 6pm. The event is free and open to the public. The Fishtown Neighbors Association who presents the event each year bills it as an event that “reinforces friendships in our community, promotes exciting local businesses, and showcases everything that makes Fishtown stand out as a neighborhood with tremendous history and vibrancy.”
Festival organizers recently unveiled the lineup for the mainstage which features 6 exciting local acts. First up is Shark Tape, a three-piece rock band from The City of Brotherly Love. They’ve been producing music under various names since 2007, but have been involved in the Shark Tape project since 2012, when they released 2 EPs. Eyes on You was selected as one of WXPN’s top records that year. They released Marathon, their debut album in November of last year. Also taking the stage on October 10th is Tutlie, who were dubbed by WXPN as “one of Philly’s most imaginative bands.” Their debut LP, Young Cries, dropped in 2014.
Veterans of the Philadelphia music scene, The Fractals, will also take the stage on October 10th. Lead single and songwriter, Kevin Hanson, has previously worked with big names like Jay-Z, Usher, and Philly’s own The Roots. Joining TheFractals on the 10th will be City Rain, an electric-pop duo made up of Ben Runyan and Scott Cumpstone, who will be highlight of the day, having become known for their live performances. They embarked on their first full tour in the fall of 2014.
Rounding out the lineup comes Teen Men and Kate Faust. Teen Men is made up of two musicians (also of The Spinto Band) and two visual artists. This is a live show you will not want to miss. And finally, we have Kate Faust, who recently performed at a Red Bull Sound Select show at Underground Arts, and also hosted Sittin’ In at The Kimmel Center. Faust released her first EP in 2014 and her second in May of this year.
