Kiss bassist Gene Simmons had his Los Angeles home searched by authorities on Friday after a warrant was served. Despite the warrant and subsequent search, authorities are saying that Simmons and the members of his family are not suspects in the ongoing case.
The warrant was served by the division that handles online crimes against children, according to CNN. “No members of the Simmons family are suspects in the case and were extremely cooperative,” said LAPD Lt. John Jenal of the search. According to the rock star’s publicist, the search is connected to a crime that may have been committed at the property while Simmons was away on tour with Kiss last year.
Neither the police department nor the Simmons family has given any details as to the crime that was allegedly committed in the residence. The authorities will not comment due to the case being an ongoing investigation, and they have asked the family not to discuss the investigation either for the same reason.
Kiss was founded by vocalist Paul Stanley and bassist Gene Simmons in 1973 and has been active ever since, though not always with the original lineup. In addition to touring in 2014, Kiss also played an acoustic set – sans their famous makeup – to raise funds to build military museum in Oregon. That same year they were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after being nominated in both 2009 and again in 2013, the latter leading up to their induction. In March 2015, the glam rock band appeared as one of the headliners at Rockavaria Festival in Munich, Germany, along with Metallica and Muse.
