Panda Bear is mastering the art of surprise releases. Mirroring last year’s surprise-dropped EP, Crosswords is now available for download, hot on the heels of the highly-acclaimed fourth studio album released in January, Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper.
Crosswords features three fresh songs – ‘No Mans Land’, ‘Jabberwocky’ and ‘Cosplay’ – alongside the spirited reworks of ‘Crosswords’ and ‘The Preakness’. Until its physical release on November 13, catch the five-track EP on Apple Music and Spotify.
Noah Lennox, co-founding Animal Collective band member and the mastermind behind the experimental music, sparked the EP with visual stimulation to craft “his trademark [transportation] to the Goldilocks zone”. Crosswords follows the release of Panda Bear’s new video and the new remix of his song, “Come To Your Senses”.
Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper was praised as “one of [Lennox’s] most widely appealing and accessible works yet” (Paste) and “an unedited adventure of blossoming soundscapes, vision blurring, dissonant melodies, and cheerful robot dance” (Spin).
