Christian post-hardcore band Underøath have announced they will reunite for a performance at the 2016 Self Help Music Festival.
The Tampa band announced their break-up back in 2012 with an accomplished, accepting mindset. With seemingly no bad blood between members, vocalist Spencer Chamberlain reportedly shared that it was just “time to close [that] chapter” and “time to move on.”
Following their split, Underøath released Anthology 1999-2013, a compilation of seventeen songs ranging from their first album, Act of Depression, to their final album, Ø (Disambiguation). The band also performed a farewell tour.
Now, their performance at Self Help will stand as the band’s first time on stage together since their final show in January 2013. The reunited lineup includes members Aaron Gillespie, Grant Brandell, Spencer Chamberlain, Chris Dudley, James Smith and Tim McTague.
Gillespie, the once-drummer/vocalist for the band, shared his feelings toward the upcoming performance.
“This will be fun, just pure fun. So excited to get real closure and give all the peeps the best night ever with my five oldest buddies.”
Chamberlain also shared that he “couldn’t be more stoked.”
The festival will take place on March 19 at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, Calif.
