Lately, Thom Yorke seems to be all over the place. From sharing the stage with Portishead, joining up with his pre-Radiohead band Headless Chickens for a reunion, to planning the release of studio version of a Radiohead live show classic and beginning work on a new Radiohead album. Now, the prolific frontman bringing more to the table- and on Broadway.
No, you won’t be seeing an Ok Computer rock opera any time soon. Yorke is in the works to write a composition for the re-working of Harold Pinter’s play Old Times . The re-working will be directed by Douglas Hodge, who has previously worked on Pinter plays.
“The music Thom has written for Old Times gives an immediacy and a ‘now‐ness’ to the show,” said Hodge in a statement, according to FLOOD. “The play itself is about memory and love—Thom’s music works backwards and forwards and plays with time and repetition in the same way Pinter does. In true Thom Yorke style, the music is epic, heartbreaking, irresistible and complex. I’m hopeful this collaboration will result in a new kind of theatergoer coming to our show.”
Old Times is set to open October 6th at American Airlines Theater, with previews beginning on September 17th.
