Dream-pop duo Beach House has released two of their newest tracks, “PPP” and “Beyond Love,” which will be featured on their upcoming album Depression Cherry.
According to Spin, the Baltimore band chose to release the tracks through an interactive “choose-your-own single widget” on their website. Depending on the fan’s top three favorite Beach House tracks, one of three singles will begin to play – their previously released “Sparks,” or one of two new releases, “PPP,” and “Beyond Love.”
“PPP” is more on the upbeat side, with a catchy melody that will soothe you at the same time. The song tells the story of a couple committing to one another, but unsure if they are both truly ready for the big step. Vocalist Victora Legrand sings the chorus, “Like tracing figure eights / On ice in skates / Oh well / And if this ice should break / It would be my mistake.”
Oppositely, “Beyond Love” begins with a slow, dreamy, synth-filled intro that will immediately entrance you. The song slowly intensifies with increasing instrumentals until Legrand begins to sing. Her ethereal voice croons, “Beyond love / The first thing that I do before I get into your house / I’m gonna tear off all the petals from the rose that’s in your mouth.”
Depression Cherry is set to release on Aug. 28. The album will feature these three singles as well as six other new tracks, such as “10:37,” which can be previewed here.
Beach House will also be performing live at the Iceland Airwaves festival this November.
