Xavier Dphrepaulezz, aka Fantastic Negrito, was set to perform at Outside Lands in San Francisco this past weekend but instead was detained before his performance when police found out that an associate of his group was selling his VIP ticket illegally through Craigslist.
Dphrepaulezz arrived Saturday afternoon to Golden Gate Park ready for his performance but instead was greeted by 10 officers who handcuffed him upon arrival with no explanation. Eventually Dphrepaulezz learned he would not be performing at the festival due to a VIP wristband that was sold through Craigslist by one of his labels interns who was actually with Dphrepaulezz while he was being detained. Dphrepaulezz spoke to Consequence of Sound and felt he was “being treated like an animal.” After being handcuffed he was then forced to the ground. Dphrepaulezz doesn’t understand how the SFPD has jurisdiction over selling a wristband on a third-party website.
“The incident is over now. I don’t even hold it against the intern. He’s a good kid. As soon as he saw what was going down, he manned up and took responsibility. I don’t have anything to do with tickets or wristbands to these things — I’m too focused on the performance to keep track of those things.”
Ranger Dave took to his twitter account to say “ranger dave wants to let you know @MusicNegrito can’t make the set today but @RonFunchies @roryscovel and @DrennonDavis are filling in” only about 20 minutes before Dphrepaulezz decided to let everyone on Twitter know himself.
While the act was out of Dphrepaulezz’s hands, there seems to be no hard feelings towards anyone.
