New Zealand’s Kody Nielson has released a colorful new music video for “Burning Sugar” through his new musical venture Silicon.
Silicon’s tracks include a disco electronica feel with clever melodies. “Burning Sugar” has an almost addictive rhythm. The video takes advantage of this unique element by featuring frame transitions timed perfectly to the beat of the track. By doing this, Silicon really highlighted the timing of the visuals in perfect accompaniment of “Burning Sugar”.
The visuals begin very retro, with pastel coloring. However as the video continues and the track picks up, it changes to a more modern feel and incorporates metallics. “Burning Sugar” is a cool track in itself, and the video adds a whole new feel to it.
“Burning Sugar” has some great positive vibes and fun electronic beats that make it a rad disco track by Silicon. Silicon’s debut album Personal Computer is set for release August 28th through Weird World. If Silicon’s debut is anything like “Burning Sugar”, it is sure to be a funky unique album with plenty of style and an ability to reach wide audiences.
Silicon joined the live scene by going on tour with the band UWO, an American and New Zealand rock band specializing in indie rock and, like Silicon, psychedelia. It’s clear that Silicon takes an experimental and creative approach to incorporating different styles of music like electronic and indie. Kody Nielson is the brother of frontman of UWO Ruban Nielson. The link between the acts isn’t heavy, but it’s cool to see how they play off of each others sounds and still maintain their differences. Nelson’s act of branching out for his own sleepy electronic music allows him to develop his own style as a musician and attract an audience for his individual work.
