LISTEN: Ghost Release New Song “Majesty”

Ghost, the Swedish heavy metal band, has released new single today from their upcoming album Meloria, which arrives later in August of this year. The album is available for pre-order on the band’s website. “Majesty” is the third single to follow singles “Cirice” and “From The Pinnacle To The Pit.” Papa Emeritus III and his nameless ghouls will return to North American to deliver their satanic melodies to audiences across the continent this fall for their Black To The Future headlining tour. The tour begins at The Fillmore in Washington, DC September of this year.

The band played four new songs at show in June of this year in Linköping, Sweden. Besides the previously released Cirice, the band performed “From the Pinnacle to the Pit,” “Majesty” and another single from the new album, “Absolution.” During the showing of the new tracks via a live bootleg, Papa Emeritus II crowned the new Papa Emeritus III before devoted fans of the Swedish metal group. The new Papa Emeritus III immediately went to Twitter to announce that the previous Papa Emeritus crowned him with ‘love’.

The song is very much like a well-kept secret, tucked away at the back of the attic and then revamped to be brought into the light for those interested in a mellow sounding, non-screaming, entrance into the heavy metal lifestyle. “Aesthetically, we cannot live off, or feed off, our actual story the way that a more biographical band can, so we have to tell a story, basically,” said Ghost, “We like to think that we’re trying to create something… a new dish out of old seasoning.” It may not be a loud, screaming jumble of words and music like most screaming heavy metal bands, but it is a refresher from the harshness on the ears.
