Elton John is an English singer-songwriter with a five-decade music career. His talent extends beyond singing as he has also produced records, acted in films, and is always performing with a piano. With high international ranks, John went for 30 consecutive years (1970-2000) with at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. With 31 albums, he has sold over 300 million records to date, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world.
In 1967, Elton John began working with his songwriting parter, Bernie Taupin. The two met when John answered an advertisement for talent in the UK publication, New Musical Express. His voice started as tenor but has since changed to baritone. With a piano style influenced by classical and gospel music, John builds crowds in his capturing performances. His latest studio album, The Diving Board, is described as “finely crafted and deeply moving.” The record’s success reached Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Albums of 2013.
John has taken the stage from the Grammy’s to a number of royal events. With a long history in working with music, John and his band will close the 2015 United States Grand Prix in Austin. Fans can look forward to a two-hour “once-in-a-lifetime” set fused with art and the city’s energetic music scene.
