Bring Me The Horizon is an alternative metal band from Sheffield, Yorkshire. They began in 2004 as kids with a similar interest in the hardcore music scene. What started with small local shows quickly turned into a global audience of devoted followers. With fans screaming every lyric on their first US tour, the band knew it was only the beginning of a massive breakthrough in their journey. Since then, the group has expanded their coverage by bringing metal to mainstream interest. With a shift in sound, they have created a new “pop-metal” brand. By combining metal to hard rock and electronics, their mix of styles has made their sound truly unique. Inspired by a variety of genres, they note “we’re a metal band who listen to everything but metal.” Frontman Oliver Sykes uses clean and unclean vocals to capture listeners and form chaotic live shows.
With a different vision for each of their albums, the group consistently delivers a refreshing sound in their music. Their record, Suicide Season, is described as their more “deathcore” work. Their next album, There Is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It a Secret, fuses electronics into heavy instruments. EDM favorite, Skrillex, also provided programming and backup vocals on parts of the record. Later, keyboardist Jordan Fish was added to their lineup to begin work on their highly anticipated album, Sempiternal. The album placed on multiple charts, including #3 on the UK Albums chart. With a theme of “everlasting time,” the record soon gained Silver and Gold Certification.
After extensive touring, the band ended 2014 with a sold out show at Wembley Arena. They recently announced their newest album, That’s The Spirit, to be released on September 11th. Three singles, including “Happy Song,” have been released from the record and have received exciting responses from fans old and new. Their song, “Throne,” was debuted on BBC Radio 1 with listeners tuning in from countries across the globe. With preorders alone, the record ranked high on the iTunes Albums chart. “Undeniably rooted in metal,” their latest work includes mixes of indie rock, alternative music, and pop. With multiple Kerrang! and AP awards, Bring Me The Horizon has shifted into a worldwide music influence.
