Public Image Ltd. just released a brand new video for their song “Double Trouble”, and just wait until you get an eyeful of what Public Image Ltd. have cultivated to express the release of their new album. After releasing the new track “Double Trouble” back in early July, we’ve now got a new video to accompany it. All of this new material is leading up to Public Image Ltd.’s new album: What The World Needs Now. This is announced for release this upcoming September 4th, so mark your calendars.
The British post punk band was formed by John Lydon, or better known as singer Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols, after the break up in 1978. From then, Public Image Ltd. was formed with a slightly more experimental sound, focusing on slow tempos and challenging themes and styles. After the release of What The World Needs Now, Public Image Ltd. will be going on tour starting September 18th.
The video for “Double Trouble” brings the intensity and fun of the song out with visuals. Stunning visuals, actually. Including some clashing fashion patterns and seemingly abandoned homes. Regarding the video, John Lydon says the following:
“Even a toilet repair can bring world Peace, or peace off.”
The group has their own label in which they’re publishing What The World Needs Now, entitled PiL Official. The video for “Double Trouble” has some fun shots in which we see the process of the new album being made. This includes shots from rough lyrics scribbled on scrap paper to putting it together with all of the musicians. It definitely highlights the process in which Public Image Ltd. went through to put together their comeback album after their break.
“Double Trouble” will also be available on a special 10″ vinyl on August 21st. Following the success of the album This is PiL, we’re excited to see what they’ve come up with for What The World Needs Now. “Double Trouble” and its corresponding video gives us a glimpse into the punk rock experimental style we’re likely to face come September and the album release.
