San Diego rock band Wavves has unveiled a second new song from their upcoming release, V. It is called “Flamezesz.”
Just a few weeks before the release of “Flamezesz,” Wavves gave their fans a chance to hear the anthemic pop-punk song, “Way Too Much,” which came out on the same day that the band announced they were going to be releasing V, which is the band’s 5th studio album.
This latest Wavves release, “Flamezesz” – pronounced as just as “Flames,” despite it’s creative spelling – showcases the band’s energy and pays tribute to their West Coast roots. There are plenty of surf-punk inspired riffs and slightly distorted vocals to catch your ear on a first listen, but on a deeper level, it becomes clear that this track is given its driving force by the up-tempo drum line. Additionally, the lyrical content features carefully crafted allusions to hearts on fire and creatures of the night.

In related news, Wavves announced that they had been working on a collaborative album with Cloud Nothings, and went on to release a new song, “No Life For Me,” which was taken from the title track of that project. No Life For Me was released earlier in July 2015, and V isn’t due out until October 2015. Additionally, Wavves took part in the SXSW livestream. The band would go on to release a music video for their contribution to the Grand Theft Auto soundtrack, Welcome to Los Santos. And, most recently, Wavves’ frontman Nathan Williams took to Twitter to vent his frustration after the band’s label, Warner Bro. Records, removed a song that the band had put up without gaining Warner Bro. Records’ permission to post the copyrighted material on social media.
V will be released on October 2nd, 2015, through Ghost Ramp/Warner Bros. Records, and the band is embarking on a series of North American tour dates in September and October. A press release notes that Wavves will be supported by Twin Peaks, Swimmers, and Steep Leans; so, be sure to check out a full listing of the tourdates, below.
