California-based Deafheaven have announced their newest album, New Bermuda, is set to release on Oct. 2. The band, who recently signed to ANTI- records, is known for their unique mix of black-metal and post-rock sounds.
The band, formed in 2010 in San Francisco, is comprised of singer George Clarke, guitarists Kerry McCoy and Shiv Mehra, drummer Dan Tracy, and bassist Stephen Lee Clark. Under their previous label Deathwish, Deafheaven released two albums, Roads to Judah and Sunbather.
Their new album, New Bermuda, which was mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley, says he created the idea of “New Bermuda” to represent “a new destination in life, a nebulous point of arrival, and an unknown future where things get swallowed up and dragged into darkness.”
To support Shirley’s idea, the album’s artwork features an oil panting by Allison Schulnik, which contains dense, dark, and deep brush strokes. The layout was designed by art director Nick Steinhardt.
Deafheaven can be seen live in Canada at Heavy Montreal on Aug. 8. The band will soon release details about a North American tour.
Pre-orders for both vinyl and digital copies of the album can be made here.
