Here We Go Magic Announce New Album And Release New Video For “Falling”

New York indie duo Here We Go Magic returns with their first record in three years. The album, Be Small, will be released on October 16th, 2015, on the label Secretly Canadian.

This new album is the group’s first since their 2012 release, A Different Ship, which was produced by Nigel Godrich. And, unlike A Different Ship, Be Small features a series of songs that Here We Go Magic band leader Luke Temple described, in a press release, as being “overtly major and optimistic.”

Additionally, Be Small is a turning point, because Here We Go Magic did not bring in any outside producers to help in the recording or production processes. But, instead, chose to record and produce this upcoming release entirely on their own. And, in the course of the production, according to a press release, the band took a “smaller approach to production” and tried to find “smaller more intimate soundscapes.” However, these changes did not hamper the final mix of the album, because the finished product “hosts no less acrobatics of musicianship and singular sonic ambition.”

Be Small, which was initially inspired by Brian Eno and John Cale’s Wrong Way Up and Robert Wyatt’s Shleep, is an album that features the robust futuristic pop sound that listeners have come to love from Here We Go Magic, but the album’s focus remains centered on a deep groove, according to a press release.

In conjunction with the announcement about Be Small’s release, Here We Go Magic released the album’s lead single, along with it’s complimentary music video. “Falling” is a bubbly track that features a catchy blend of synths that propel the song forward, with support from interconnected acoustic and electric guitar lines. In each turn of a new phrase, “Falling” seems to gather momentum over the course of the Sam Kuhn-directed video that speaks to falling in love.
