The guitar virtuoso that founded Monotonix, a garage rock band acclaimed by SPIN as “the most exciting live band in rock’n’roll”, recently revealed the release of his EP on a unique CD and Vinyl hybrid.
After the announcement of an “improvisational and intense performance” at SXSW Music, Yonatan Gat – “mysterious, wildly inventive and dynamic” – has dared musical horizons by sharing his music, available for purchase and streaming, on a new format. The lathe-cut compact disc will play in any player or computer, and also on a record player. On one side, fans have Yonatan Gat’s song, engineered by Steve Albini, and on the other side, Monotonix’s latest LP.
Pitchfork hailed Gat’s impressive record as “a frequently dazzling display of the trio’s impressively far-flung influences” and the New York detailed that it “echoes of funk from Benin; Cuban son from Senegal; Chicano rock from Los Angeles; Afro-Brazilian soul from Rio de Janeiro; and the pentatonic and Arabic scales that connect much of the world – but there’s always a lilt and an invitation in it. He leaves a space for you to get in.”
