The Maine is an American rock band from Tempe, Arizona. They began with bassist Garrett Nickelsen and drummer Patrick Kirch who then held auditions for the other spots. With no prior vocal experience, frontman John O’Callaghan joined along with Jared Monaco and Kennedy Brock. They formed in 2007 and signed to Fearless Records later in the same year.
The band quickly began writing their first album, Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, which debuted in 2008. With high praise, they released original music and covers in their “…And a Happy New Year” EP. The group played on tours with bands such as We The Kings, Versa, and The Academy Is… They were also featured in the popular summer event, Vans Warped Tour.
In early 2015, the band released three singles which all placed on the iTunes Alternative Chart. Their newest album, American Candy, was released shortly after with great success. The record is described as being positive and relaxed, but also upbeat to get crowds moving. On their eighth year as a band, The Maine continues with all five original members.
