Future Islands’ Sam Herring has announced his latest hip-hop endeavor: teaming up with Madlib for a project called Trouble Knows Me.

The two released the title track on SoundCloud, Consequence of Sound reported. It’s apparently the first release of “a self-titled 12-inch on September 1st featuring three instrumentals and three rap tracks.”

Herring has dabbled in hip-hop before; he freestyled on VHS video and rapped live at show in LA a couple years ago, both under his emcee alter-ego “Hemlock Ernst.”

The horn-heavy, funky track under Herring’s verses provide a great preview for the album to come. Listen to the single below:

North Carolina-based Future Islands released the video for “A Song For Your Grandfathers,” track off their 2014 record Singles, earlier this year. Madlib’s last release was his collab with Freddie Gibbs in 2014, titled Piñata.
