Sturgill Simpson will make his way back to Philly this September. His show, originally slated for The Tower Theater, has since been to the TLA. The date and time remain the same, September 18th. And all tickets previously purchased for The Tower will be honored at The TLA. In a message to his Facebook page, Simpson seemed optimistic about the change to the much smaller TLA, stating, “Philadelphia fans, we are moving the Sturgill Simpson show on Friday September 18 back downtown to the Theatre of the Living Arts, where it belongs.”
Since the release of his album, Metamodern Sounds In Country Music, last May, Sturgill has been on a non-stop touring schedule. The album, he says, is country music through and through. Fans of the musician can catch his music at the TLA, where all of his previous Philly shows have been.
Simpson has been recording music since 2004, first in a bluegrass band before eventually going solo. He released his debut album, High Top Mountain, in 2013. The album was self-funded and self-released. Then in 2014, he released his second album, Metamodern Sounds in Country Music.
