British indie rock band Bloc Party will be performing at The Roxy on August 20. They have been together since 1999. The band has been inspired by such acts as Sonic Youth, Joy Division, Gang of Four, and The Cure.
The group’s debut album, Silent Alarm, appeared early in 2005 and was released by Vice Records in the States to widespread acclaim. Since then they have gone on to release three more albums with the latest one being Four in 2012, which featured a more guitar-oriented sound similar to their debut album. In September 2014, lead singer Kele Okereke stated that Bloc Party were working on a fifth album.
The band has been nominated for many awards over the years, including ‘Best New Artist’ at the 2005 NME Awards, and was also up for the ‘Best Alternative Act’ category at the 2005 MTV Europe Music Awards. After two brief hiatus in recent years, now’s your chance to catch them at The Roxy!
