Le Butcherettes have released a new song “Shave The Pride.” The band is currently in the midst of a Chaos As Usual tour with the Melvins, but have released the album through National Public Radio. The song will be featured in the track listing for Le Butcherettes’ forthcoming album A Raw Youth which is scheduled to come out in September of this year along with their other single, “They Fuck You Over.” Founder and lead singer, Teri Gender Bender, says the song is about a bearded lover hiding behind his beard. “The beard symbolizes our unwillingess to view all perceptions of [a] story … hiding behind the mass media,” wrote Gender Bender in a diatribe. The original name of the track was titled after Pogonophobia, which means someone who has a fear of beards.
So far Le Butcherettes have released two albums; their 2011 debut album titled Sin, Sin, Sin and the 2014 album Cry Is For The Flies. The band recorded the upcoming album at RLP Studios in El Paso, Texas. Songs on the tracklisting will include special guests Iggy Pop on “La Uva” and John Frusciante on “My Half.” The song was produced by Omar Rodriguez Lopez. Le Butcherettes will be playing at the upcoming Riot Grill Fest with the all-female band Babes in Toyland on Aug. 7 at The Regent Theater.
