Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats recently graced the small stage at The Echo in Los Angeles. Rateliff, who has a couple of solo albums under his belt, premiered his new project complete with saxophone, trumpet, bass, drums and keys. The Night Sweats infuse an ecstatic soulfulness to Nathaniel’s indie-folk style. Having a full band brought out a bit of rowdiness we’ve never seen before with Nathaniel; foot-stomping and hand-clapping his way through songs like “S.O.B” and “The Shape I’m In.” The band also provided a layer of delicate harmony on “Howling At Nothing.” Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ self-titled album is scheduled for release under the legendary Stax label on August 21.
