Gardens & Villa are releasing their new record, Music For Dogs, in August of this year. The group is excited to release the video for their first single “Fixations.” The bizarre video features the band stumbling upon an e-cig and drug-fueled party, featuring a Segway-cruising Einstein/Warholian menace, portrayed by Foxygen’s Sam France. The video was directed by Austin Kearns. Songwriters Chris Lynch and Adam Rasmussen of Gardens & Villa try to find meaning through this sun-drenched 70s-leaning rock single. Working with Austin Kearns and his team was a joy. They are true weirdos that mercilessly ride the wave of the future,” said Gardens & Villa.
“The video is a satire of the culture that we actively participate in. Critiquing the self is an exercise in humor,” the band explained, “It’s like an exaggeration of the 2015 internet-dependent human existence. I’s funny and, at the same time, a strange modern void.”
The video is everything we assume happens at parties. From drinking to finding pleasure, and dancing the night away, the party in the music video is everything experimental. Smoking and taking drugs are two of the ways we try to find ourselves in a place that coincides with hoe we are part of the global culture. We as humans, often find meaning in the way we interact and become part of the world and it’s diversity.
