Five-piece indie rock band Carbon Leaf will be performing at The Mint in September (originally scheduled for The Roxy). The band is known for their alt-country, Celtic, and folk-infused Indie Rock. The band hails from Richmond, Virginia, and has released a total of 12 solo albums and EPs. Their latest release is Indian Summer Revisited released in 2014, which is a re-recording of their 2004 album to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
The group entered onto the national scene in 2002 by winning an American Music Award with the Irish-tinged hit “The Boxer,” a narrative about a fighter who’s at the top of his game but scraping the bottom of love’s barrel. The five-man band’s arrangement of guitar, bass, drums, and mandolin is rounded out with more exotic instruments, like the bouzouki, fiddle, accordion and penny whistle, all tied together by lead singer Barry Privett’s bold baritone.
Be sure to catch Carbon Leaf as they perform at The Mint in September.
