Snarky Puppy is one of the “biggest underground” jazz groups to hit the industry. The band started back in 2004 in Denton, Texas, and now features over 40 musicians who contribute to recordings and tours. As they consistently recruit guest artists, fans are always pleasantly surprised in new music released. Their live energy is captured by their modern jazz fused with an exciting mix of instruments.
The group has created a variety of live recordings, collaborations, and studio albums. In May of 2015, they released Sylva, an album made with Metropole Orkest of Netherlands. The band continues to record new work, with Family Dinner – Volume 2 as their latest project and more rumored for 2016. Aside from producing music, however, Snarky Puppy is also devoted to education. They have held over 100 music classes from North America to Europe, all while being on tour.
In 2014, Snarky Puppy was nominated and given their first Grammy Award as Best R&B Performance. Recently, the band has experienced career-changing success. Their visibility extends internationally as they recently performed in over 18 countries last year. Coming on to their 11th year as a band, Snarky Puppy’s growth continues to rise.
