Electronic musician and performance artist Merrill Beth Nisker, most commonly known by her stage name Peaches, has announced her sixth studio album, RUB. The record follows 2009’s I Feel Cream, and is scheduled for release on September 25, 2015 on I U She Music via INgrooves.
Recorded throughout 2014, RUB is a collaboration with her longtime friend Vice Cooler in Peaches’ own Los Angeles garage studio. In true Peaches’ style, the album features smooth, seductive tempos and bass. Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and Feist also appear as guests on the album.
Peaches explained via a press release:
After six years, I was excited about my lyrics again, about what Peaches was, I felt more comfortable living out any idea I wanted to try. We spent ten hours a day making beats, and whatever stuck, I would write on and develop. The only agenda was to make the best album we could.
Each song on the album will each have an accompanying video, directed and curated by Peaches herself. The album’s first video is for its lead single, “Light In Places”, depicts a skilled acrobat performing moves upon a trapeze as brightly colored pink and blue lights radiate from the background.
If you’re itching for more Peaches tunes, look out for her free single next month under the Adult Swim Singles program. If you’re in Austin this November, catch Peaches at Fun Fun Fun Fest, where she will perform alongside Wu-Tang Clan, Chromeo, ScHoolboy Q and Grimes.
