Neil Young + Promise Of The Real are embarking on the Rebel Content Tour this summer spanning the month of July kicking off at Milwaukee Summer Fest on the fifth.
Spanning over 45 years and 35 studio albums, Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young has been an acclaimed musician for quite some time. His newest project sees him working alongside Promise Of The Real, with the announcement of their new album together entitled The Monsanto Years set to be released next Monday, June 29.
Promise Of The Real is an American rock group including Willie Nelson’s two sons, Lukas and Micah. The band will join Young onstage to perform songs from The Monsanto Years after Young opens the show up with a small acoustic set of his own. Both sets will include old songs and new.
This isn’t the first time Young has performed with Promise Of The Real. He had preciously played with the Nelson brothers at Farm Aid and the Bridge School Benefit. Another coincidence regarding Young and Promise Of The Real is that Lukas Nelson apparently met their drummer, Anthony LoGerfo, at a Neil Young concert.
Young and Promise Of The Real have released videos for news songs “Wolf Moon” and “A Rock Star Bucks A Coffee Shop,” showing a stripped down type of performance in each. The new album, The Monsanto Years, is said to be ecologically and environmentally-focused, with a song based on a lawsuit in Vermont regarding a law requiring companies to list whether their food contains GMOs. Young has boycotted Starbucks because of the lawsuit, which is what “A Rock Star Bucks A Coffee Shop” is about. Funnily enough, this will reportedly be Young’s first show in Vermont.
